Position:  Head of Circulation, Librarian Assistant I

Responsible to the Branch Manager for supervising the activities of the branch circulation desk, serving as person in charge in the absence of the Branch Manager, knowing and following HCLS policies and procedures, and participating in the service activities of the circulation desk.

Primary Duties:

• Supervises Library Clerks in the branch
• Assists Branch Manager with hiring, training, and evaluation of circulation staff
• Prepares deposit reports
• Processes overdue reports and records
• Runs circulation reports for statistical report to HQ
• Performs library service functions as described for Library Clerk

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or appropriate library experience, computer skills, ability to work well with the public and other staff, supervisory experience desirable

Hours: 40 hours per week, including some nights and Saturdays.

Minimum salary:  $9.79 per hour

Under the general supervision of the Branch Manager, prepares and conducts weekly storytimes and the Summer Reading Program, checks library materials in and out, shelves books, answers phones, and assists library users in locating materials and with computers.

Primary Duties:

• Designing and providing engaging activities that help young people develop their creativity, interests, and talents
• Checking library materials in and out
• Shelving library materials
• Helping library users locate materials
• Assisting library users with computers

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public. Physical ability to bend, lift, reach, and carry up to 25lbs. Basic computer and internet skills.

Hours: 17 hours per week, including some nights and Saturdays.

Minimum salary: $9.79 per hour.
