Branch Manager – Woolmarket, Biloxi

Harrison County Library System is seeking a manager for the Woolmarket Branch. The position is full time (40 hrs/week) and requires two years of professional library experience and either a Bachelor’s degree or prior supervisory experience. Role and Responsibilities:

  • Selects, supervises, trains, and evaluates (annually) branch staff in compliance with System personnel policies
  • Ensures excellent service to patrons and maintains an atmosphere conducive to serving patron needs
  • Responsible for programming to enhance library services
  • Responsible for maintenance of library building and grounds
  • Assists in marketing library services to patrons and the community via media and outreach
  • Responsible for collection development at branch in accordance with HCLS policy
  • Maintains supplies needed for operation of branch
  • Keeps Assistant Director informed of plans and needs of branch and coordinates branch services
  • Prepares and submits petty cash report to HQ
  • Prepares and submits monthly service statistics
  • Attends professional meetings and other training opportunities to keep abreast of library trends
  • Participates in desk schedule as needed to ensure that library service needs are met
  • Other duties as needed or required by Assistant Director

Salary: $27,560-$31,200

Youth Services – West Biloxi

Under the general supervision of the branch manager, develops, organizes, and implements all aspects of children’s programming.

 

Primary Duties:

 
  • Design and provide engaging activities that help young people develop their creativity, interests, and talents
  • Plan budget request for regular library materials and Summer Library Program needs
  • Recommend children’s and young adult materials for purchase and weed as needed
  • Assemble and arrange timely displays
  • Plan, execute, or arrange activities for children (Storytime), as well as other programs, both in the library and out in the community designed to reach the maximum number of area children
  • Keep statistics and records pertaining to youth services and provide reports concerning activities to the Branch Manager
 

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working with children or relevant education related to child development and/or education. Ability to create and maintain effective relationships with children of all ages, their caregivers, and other professionals who work with children. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public. Physical ability to bend, lift, reach, and carry up to 25lbs. Self-motivated and able to exercise initiative and independent judgement. Basic computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets. Ability to travel locally within the Gulf Coast area for community outreach and special projects and programs.

 

 

Hours: 40 hours per week, including some nights and Saturdays.

 

Minimum salary: $12.00 per hour.

Library Clerk – PT – Orange Grove

Under the general supervision of the Branch Manager, checks library materials in and out, shelves books, answers phones, and assists library users in locating materials and with computers.

 

Primary Duties: 

  • Checking library materials in and out
  • Shelving library materials
  • Helping library users locate materials
  • Assisting library users with computers
 

Requirements:  High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.  Physical ability to bend, lift, reach, and carry up to 25lbs. Basic computer and internet skills.

 

Hours:  17 hours per week, will include working Fridays and Saturdays.   

 

Starting salary:  $11.00 per hour.
