Computer/Internet Use Policy

In keeping with its’ mission, the Harrison County Library System provides free public computers with access to the Internet on System owned software. No other software may be downloaded or installed. Computer and Internet access is available to all library users in good standing and is subject to time limits. System computer and Internet use must be in accordance with Federal, State, or local laws or regulations.

The System assumes no liability for loss or damage to the user’s data or for any damage or injury arising from the invasion of the user’s privacy. The System will not be held accountable for the content or accuracy of any information obtained from the Internet. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for the information selected or accessed by their children. Fees will be charged for computer printouts in order to recover costs. All System computers are equipped with Internet filtering devices. Adults (18 years and older) may request that a site be unblocked; however, a request may be denied in order to comply with Library policy.

The System reserves the right to deny the privilege of computer use to any individual. Appeals of this denial may be directed to the System Director.
